Trippy is probably one of the most apt adjectives to describe Crosby Studios, although quirky is also a quality of their designs. The Russian creative studio has geared up with the likes of Balenciaga and Dover Street Market Paris. Harry Nuriev, the eccentric designer and founder behind Crosby Studios chalk up his successes to his trusty project manager, Anastasiia Pestrikova, without whom he would not be able to operate as such a high level of cohesion.
Nuriev has nothing but praise for his project management team, especially Pestrikova, who assisted him in bringing his vision to life during the Art Basel Switzerland design fair, where they held an installation of sorts, merging both digital and tangible in an unforgettable experience.
“Pestrikova is an absolute treasure and the exhibition would not have taken off so smoothly without her input and assistance. Creativity needs to be managed and she knows how to take that energy, weld it, and create something that is exactly what I envisioned and what the world currently needs, like our latest foray into the digital space or playing with different realities.”
The Elevator project presented as a symbol of intersection of different levels of reality, which makes real or imagined all direction connections along its passage through the floors.
Crosby Studios have been known for their eccentric designs which crosses the line between cyberspace and reality. From pixel-inspired furniture to their outdoor furniture collection for GES-2 x Harry Nuriev, which incorporated the use of neon, futurism, as well as practicality into the design, Crosby Studios injects fun and a type of intellectual innovation into their designs.
“The end product is brutal and stylish, just like what the architecture of GES-2 museum in Moscow is known for,” says Pestrikova. They wanted to make sure that they represented their collaborative partner well, but at the same time, ensure that they don’t lose themselves in the process. As a project manager, she often has her hands full due to the copious amounts of ideas and brands that reach out to Crosby Studios, in hopes of being realized into a piece of art.
“We are dedicated to creating authentic designs that do not stray from what Crosby Studios stands for or what the brand we are collaborating with cares about.”
The project manager nurtures each project like her own child, explaining that it is her job to make sure that every idea is well executed because it reflects Crosby Studios intimately. She has been working with Nuriev closely and has proven herself over and over. From the studio office slash furniture store of 2020 to the conceptualization of a new Avgvst store in Moscow which was launched in 2021, Pestrikova was there every step of the way to ensure that it is executed properly and is aligned with the vision of Crosby Studios.
Later this year, Nuriev will be launching a metaverse game and has invited the public to view the kind of environment that will be present in his game. Everything that the studio comes up with is something that they care about deeply, and the metaverse is just the next step to fulfilling the studio’s bigger picture.
